Jeju - Seogwipo

Seogwipo at its most natural

Music and lights

In Seogwipo, on the southern coast of Jeju, the water seems to whisper the very soul of the island. The waterfalls — Cheonjiyeon, Jeongbang, and Cheonjeyeon — cascade like liquid prayers, linking heaven, earth, and sea in an eternal murmur. As evening falls, the Saeyeongyo Bridge lights up with shifting reflections, drawing an arc of light between the city and the ocean, between the ordinary and the sacred (below waterfall's pictures captured by Madad Maïssae)

Not far from there, sailors still bow before the statue of the protective grandmother, to whom they entrust their fate before setting out to sea. A legacy of Jeju’s shamanic beliefs, she embodies the wisdom of the elders and the island’s maternal benevolence — the unseen guardian of its waters and its souls.
